Interstate Challenge Trophy

Placings in the following 12 categories may earn points toward a state’s score:

For the purposes of determining placings in the Interstate Challenge, any team that does not contain an Australian state representative should first be removed from the results table. Points should then be awarded as follows:-

1. If only one state is represented in a category, then no points will be awarded in that category.
2. If only one team is competing in a category, then no points will be awarded in that category.
3. If more than one state is represented in a category, but only two teams are represented in that category, then
1. First place scores two points
2. Second place scores one point
4. Otherwise,
1. First place scores three points
2. Second place scores two points
3. Third place scores one point
5. If a team has representatives from more than one state, the points scored by that team shall be shared proportionally among the team members’ states. (e.g. If a team consisting of two Queenslanders and a Tasmanian win a category, then two points are awarded to Queensland and one point is awarded to Tasmania.)
6. If a team has both Australian and international members, the points scored by that team shall be shared as in item 5, but with no points being allocated to the international competitor. (e.g. If a team consisting of a Victorian and a New Zealander win a category, then 1.5 points are awarded to Victoria only.)

These rules adopted by the ARA in 2001 and first used at the 2001 AusChamps.
