Hi,

I'm new to this forum but have been rogaining for 12 years in WA.

For 2 years I've been researching, experimenting with and manufacturing my own headlights in the search for the best possible light for rogaining.

I'm now growing a small hobby business manufacturing and selling these headlights.

The specifications can be found on my (very crude) website:
www.spikelights.com.au

I think you'll find my lights satisfy and exceed all the requirements outlined in previous posts.

I'm sold out right now but the demand has been high enough that I plan to make more and try to make something bigger out of it.

Let me know your thoughts. I'm still developing the next version.

When I went rogaining in the early 1990s barely anyone used a head torch. That's why the events were scheduled on full moons. You might use a torch with a red filter to check your map, and that's about it.

When I went rogaining about 5 years ago just about everyone had a head torch and it bugged me no end to keep having people's lights flashing in my eyes

AYUP ! Earlier poster right though, you have to look sideways at the map if you've contacted / plastic covered it as it as direct beam can be very bright ! The AYUPs alos tend to pick up the tiniest bit of lum on any marker.
