World Rogaining Champs draft entry criteria 2009/04/08 16:38 Karma: 0
Dear Rogainers,

The International Rogaining Federation has released a draft World Rogaining Championship entry criteria discussion paper. Comment is welcome from all interested rogainers. The criteria is attached and I have copied the email distributed by the author of the criteria Lauri Leppik. If you reply here I will draw attention to it as well as pass on your comments unedited.

I'll make some personal comments later.

Regards,
Alan Mansfield

"Dear IRF Members and Observers,

Please find enclosed a discussion paper on WRC entry criteria.
The purpose of the paper is to set out the principles and criteria for
registration to the World Rogaining Championships.
The paper draws on experience from the latest two WRCs and on early
discussion between IRF Members at the general meeting held during 8WRC.
However, also a number of new ideas has been added, which do represent a
significant change in some aspects.
The draft version has been discussed in the IRF Executive.
The paper is now open to your comments. Your feedback and input are
highly valued.
Please consult also with members of your rogaining associations and
groupings and feel free to forward the paper to fellow rogainers or post
it to discussion boards.
Please send any comments and proposals for amendment either to this
forum or directly to me by 1 May 2009.

Best wishes,
Lauri Leppik"

I support the objectives of the entry criteria. For quite selfish reasons I would like to see a cap on the number of "restricted registrations", say at 300 of the 500 places. I'd like to think there will still be room for people like me who have been to previous WRCs and been active in their local associations but don't quite meet any of the criteria for restricted entry.

Cheers, Paul

I understand the need to restrict entry. The reasons stated are very valid. A little disappointed though. Oh well better i saw this document now and not closer to the NZ event.

Hello Paul and Chris,

The Enrty Criteria for 9WRC2010 NZ is very close to finalisation. It will be a part way house to a future criteria. With demand for places such as it is somehting must be put in place to try and achieve a balance. I can only say like al these things read the criteria when published and if your in a postion to enter a team then enter as soon as possible. In effect 9WRC2010 is a modified and reversed Enrty Criterai as utilsied for 8WRC2008.

Check out the http://wrc2010.org.nz/ the recently launched 9th World Rogaining Championship web site.

I understand that their need to be restrictions on entry but it would be really, really nice to know beforehand which events will be used for qualifying BEFORE these events are actually held. To my knowledge, there is not one single event in the qualifying draft which will take place after the release of entry conditions.
