Australian Rogaining Association

I'm posting this to gather some anecdotal feedback for the ARA Council meeting to be held prior to this year's Australian Rogaine Championships.

The entry numbers seem low this year, although I haven't seen a final list. If you aren't going and have been to an Australian Championship event in the past few years, why aren't you going this year?

Reasons I can guess at include:

cost of travel

remote location (that didn't prevent better numbers in Alice Springs last year or exceptional numbers at Warrumbungles in 2006)

Friday-Saturday event days (2 days off work)

only 4 weeks before World Champs

other local event (only applies to WA)

any others?

Please let me know your thoughts or what other people you might have talked to have been saying.
